Wrong again
The barbecue was actually very enjoyable. I've just got in the door now, having spent the night at Nige and Kate's. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have had quite so much fun otherwise.
I think I've figured out who Kate's cousin is. I met her last weekend at Kate's party and there was a thunderbolt of recognition that, for the life of me, I couldn't justify with a bona fide memory. I'm now 90% convinced that I first met her when I was somewhere around 14-15, while I was in a musical in Liverpool. How weird is that? Coincidences abound.
I'm going to have a shower in a minute and then try to ascertain whether Standish library is open on Sundays. If it is, I'm going to do some writing. If it's not, I'm going to be most put out, and probably just come back here and collapse with my gp32 and a quality ebook. I need to look into developing for that thing at some point. There are numerous things I'd like to try, but they'd all have to be hacks on existing software. My C isn't good enough any more. It's atrophied over the years, and it was never particularly sparkling to begin with. I'm not even sure that developing for it using linux is going to be possible. There's an SDK knocking about, but I think it's for win32 systems.
I'm going to have to part with a considerable amount of money today. I've got to send Paul a cheque for nearly two hundred quid, to cover his stag weekend in Ireland. I should also sort out my insurance. That's likely to set me back somewhere in the region of £350 at best, though I might spread it out this time. It would certainly be less of a shock to my bank balance. I'm also seriously considering buying one of those multigym jobs off ebay. There's one on there for £99 which I'm pretty sure will do everything I require. I may top out on the leg exercises fairly quickly, but it should keep me going with the upper body stuff for a while. Apparently you can add weights to it as well, so that would also help. I really need to do something. This gut appears to have reached its minimum limit with my current diet (I think the fact that the vast majority of my daily calories come from beer is a serious factor here). Something has to be done to regain some momentum.
Right, enough catching up. It's shower time. Today I will be singing "Baby, can I hold you tonight?" by Tracy Chapman, though probably as covered by Boyzone. Too much Guinness last night. That's what it is. I'm feeling smooth and Oirish.
