Peculiar.

Due, it seems, to the intricacies of DNS resolution I'm currently in the peculiar position of being able to connect to my home pc from work, but not from itself. To clarify, orinoco.homelinux.org resolves to a different (and incorrect) IP at home than it does at work. Thus, if I'm sitting at the machine, I can't collect my email from my own server, but if I'm at work, I can. I suspect Telewest of being their normal, incompetent selves in this regard. Hopefully it'll be put right soon.

Having left root beer batch 2 for some time now, it seems to have become significantly more beery. I can taste the alcohol. I should throw it out, but...

Batch 3 is going to be based on an entirely different and far more sensible recipe which makes only 2 litres. If nothing else, it's less to pour away when it all goes wrong :)

On another note, I came home to an answerphone message from an extremely giggly telesales girl from Telewest, asking if I'd like to add some "fantasy" channels to my subscription. I assume she was surrounded by equally giggly telesales girls, since she added that she'd "like to suck me up and down". While not an entirely unappealing offer, I decided it was nevertheless pretty inappropriate and wrote a quick missive to Telewest telling them that a) I didn't want their "fantasy" channels (who needs TV porn when we have the internet?) and b) I did not want to be "sucked up and down", nor offered such a service without prior consent. I also indicated that they would be well advised not to telephone me at all in future, if they wanted to keep my custom. I hate phones and I particularly hate sales calls. At the top of my list of hates is sales calls from YTS kids with the giggles.
