Lovely, Welsh Wales, isn'it?
The weekend was great. Got to visit several old haunts, though sadly not Cadwalladers in Pwllheli. The kids were my excuse for a visit to there and the equally fab rock shop, but I don't have kiddy seats in my car and the trip was vetoed :(.
A lot of fun was had regardless. The kids, if I haven't explained this before, and I don't think I have, are the son of my Dad's best mate's youngest daughter, and the daughter of his eldest daughter in order of age. 5 and 3 respectively. Oliver is content to do his own thing and, wherever possible, ignore adults completely. Holly is a Daddy's girl and would much rather stick around and ask endless tricky questions. Having had very little experience of three year olds since I was one, and absolutely none whatsoever of three year old girls, I find I'm entirely unequipped to deal with inquiries like "Why is your chest hairy?" and "Why don't you have any babies?". She is rather sweet though, and despite the fact that her laugh is reminiscent of a family of spider monkeys on crack, I think I'm rather fond of her. Oliver, for all his boyish attempts at aloofness, is also basically a good kid. He mastered stunt car racer on my GP32, so he's ok in my book.
I've been directly asked to print copies of The Dream Peddler for both, and to number and sign them. That's more ego stroking than I usually get in a year, so I'm happy for a month or two :). Now I just have to decide who gets #2 and who gets #3!
I had an idea for another kiddies book on the way home. Unfortunately all my best ideas come while I'm driving. Hopefully I'll still remember the gist of it when I get home tomorrow night and I'll be able to get something in writing.
Now I'm off to bed. I think I need a weekend where I don't have to go anywhere, just so that I can sort my life out a bit.
