I shall be off to work shortly. Hopefully it will all go well and I won't end up back here for the third week in a row! I'm actually looking forward to it in a strange sort of way. Before me lies the opportunity to Get Something Done. The problem with this concept is that I can find myriad ways to amuse myself at work that don't involve actual work at all, and thus I might not get as much done as I would like. I shall attempt to resist.

I put up my Christmas tree and decorations last night. I think they're very festive indeed. You can just see the edge of the tree on my webcam. I bought some extra tacky decorations at the garden centre yesterday too. I have an enormous banner that says "Merry Christmas!" in big, cheery letters, but I need someone to help me put it up. I also bought some Frankincense and Myrrh scented candles which are ace. Mmmm... churchy...

I think that's about enough from me for the time being. Hopefully I'll still be cheerful at 5:30 :)

I appear to have achieved productivity. Amazing what you can get done when you don't actually spend most of your working day chatting to your mates, isn't it? I've ticked off about 8 of the 20 or so things I need to do for one customer, and I expect to have most of them done by the end of the day. I'd given myself until Thursday and didn't think I'd have enough time! It's nice to be wrong sometimes :)

Give me a few more days and I might work myself up to being an actual useful member of society!

Well, I've done whole bundles of the work I was supposed to do for Thursday, which makes me very happy indeed. I've also taught myself the rudiments of stored procedures in MS SQL, something I've been meaning to do properly for ages. It occurs to me that I should really update my CV. There's a load of stuff that I'm more or less capable of that just isn't on there: MySQL, MS SQL, Tcl/Tk, shell scripting (in general), miscellaneous linux admin stuff...

Just submitted a puzzle for possible inclusion in Puzzle Donkey 3. It's rather fiendish. I'm quite pleased with myself :)

It's along similar lines to the one in PD1 that went something like "Italian 49 of 100, what's for breakfast", but not quite as obscure (I don't think). Be nice if it got in :)
