Halfway through the week and time appears to have slowed to a crawl. I've run out of things to do that are remotely productive so I'm just tinkering with this mailserver and alternately breaking and fixing bits. It now archives mail and provides access to same through a web interface, which is nice. I should really get around to taking it over to Liverpool and installing it, but I'm kind of worried that it'll all go pear-shaped like it did last time. Better to keep it here until I'm absolutely certain it's right, I reckon.

Angel was good again last night. They seem to have got their act together with this season, it's a shame it'll all be over soon. Spoilers and musings behind here )

I put some more stuff up for auction on ebay last night. Sheet music and guitar tab mostly. My plan for tonight is to get the rest up. This will require an extended stint in front of the computer, lots of coffee and cigarettes, and someone standing over me with a menacing glint in their eyes would probably also help. I was supposed to have this stuff up ages ago. On the bright side it appears I might actually break even this month. I have 80 quid left in my overdraft and I get paid on Monday (possibly Friday if the boss is feeling generous).

Haven't done a lyrics quiz in a while, so I thought I'd put one together. I want artist, title and next line.

1. I'd hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain.
2. Hanging on the promises and the songs of yesterday.
3. Wherever there is a hang-up...
4. Went well for a week or two...
5. And the time flies by, like a vulture in the sky
6. I can't pretend that I don't care
7. Alone in the church by and by.
8. So use it, and prove it, remove this whirling sadness.
9. I don't mean to be rude, dude
10. You say you don't know, you won't know until you begin.

Most are fairly simple, but there are a couple in there I don't really expect anyone to get.

My stance

Since this is doing the rounds I thought I'd add my two-pennorth.

Abortion?:Only in circumstances where the alternative would be worse for mother and/or child
Death Penalty?:Much as I hate to see convicted, self-confessed murderers live out their lives on tax-payers money, there's no alternative while convictions can't be guaranteed to be safe
Prostitution?:legalised and regulated. Being prissy about a subject doesn't make it go away, it just makes it more dangerous for all concerned
Alcohol?:Mine's a Guinness
Marijuana?:Legalise it, treat it like the substance it is, a potentially harmful recreational drug a la tobacco or alcohol
Other drugs?:Trickier. While legalisation would bring regulation, it would also bring acceptability, and some of the drugs that come under this heading should not be considered acceptable
Gay marriage?:Fine by me. I'd hate to see anyone truly in love miss the opportunity to get married on a legal technicality
Illegal immigrants?:Another tricky one. I'm of the opinion that, in most cases, the UK should never be their first stop anyway. If you've come across Europe to get here, you don't need to be here
Smoking?:Nasty habit, but along with the other drug issues it's an individual choice, issues of passive smoking aside.
Drunk driving?:Should be clamped down on, hard. Deaths by drunk driving should be considered manslaughter
Cloning?:life is life, regardless of what it looks like. If a cloned child will be treated with love as any other child, I see no harm
Racism?:Bad and wrong. Period.
Premarital sex?:lotsa fun. :)
Religion?:Divisive, misleading and unnecessary
The war in Iraq?:Doomed to turn out as it did. I am relieved that Saddam Hussein is no longer in power, but it was never going to be a quick war then home for tea
Bush?:A pillock. Embodies the worst things people think about Americans
Downloading music?:Naughty, but in a climate where consumers are being ripped off, it serves as a sort of protest
The legal drinking age?:18, with provision for younger drinkers with adult supervision (so kids don't suddenly discover booze and explode in a beer orgy)
Porn?:It's an industry like any other, providing no one is being exploited
Suicide?:Tragic, but a personal choice. Not one I would back as sane or productive though

What is your stand on..... brought to you by BZOINK!
