I'm really just trying something at the moment. I'm supposed to be in a meeting, but no one has turned up yet (they're currently running an hour and a quarter late), so I don't want to get embroiled in anything that's going to take ages, and fiddling with my multi-talented feed reader seemed a good option. I just discovered it has the ability to post as well as read, and figured that was probably a Good Thing. Anyway, here's hoping this works.

Bored Now

Running intensive SQL queries is extremely boring. I'm sitting here waiting for a very small batch of results, but it's coming from such a mahoosive dataset via such a convoluted route that it's going to take at least another 10 minutes. 10 minutes for about 100 records. Doesn't seem fair really. In other news, we will eventually be moving house. It's just taking a while to sort everything out. I keep telling myself it will all be worth it in the end, and I'm sure it will. I've also been amusing myself with such things as my family tree, though I've not been doing any development on my family tree app, which is naughty. I have at least 5 generations on all branches now, so it's getting to be a big old tree. It's rare to get a breakthrough into older, pre-BMD records though, which is frustrating. Sometimes I'll get lucky and a relative will show up with convincing evidence of family links going back further, but most lines end around about 1830, just before official records started. When I get the time I'll do the travelling around parish churches thing, and hopefully get a bit further that way, but in the meantime I'll continue to fill in the various siblings and branches I haven't yet got. All good fun.
