E61 and WiFi
I've been playing with my new shiny again. I've had issues with the WiFi ever since I got it. It works, but not well. The connection drops all the time and it *crawls* if I'm more than a few feet from the router.
No longer. I figured out the issue, and surprise, surprise it was the automatic settings that were at fault. Nokia, like other well known companies that shall remain nameless, have decided in their wisdom, that their users should not, by default, have access to the more intricate workings of WiFi on the phone. If I ignore their dire pronouncements about changing advanced settings not being recommended, and disable their idiotic power saving (read "disconnects you if it thinks you're using too much power") feature, lo and behold, the damn thing *flies*! PuTTY doesn't seem to like it much, but I'll figure that out in due course, the web app is now fast as you like, and the connection is nice and stable. Hurrah!
