Why don't I have Blackberry Maps?

By all rights, I should have Blackberry Maps installed on my shiny new crackberry. My applications list tells me it's installed, the Blackberry Desktop software tells me it's installed, but I can't find it.

Apparently Orange hid it in an attempt to make people buy their execrable GPS solution, and there's a lengthy howto on getting it sorted out. Problem is it doesn't work. I've followed the instructions and still no maps icon.

Any of you crackberry equipped folks out there run into this one? It's pissing me right off.

I think it's in my applications list, but not enabled on the phone (Pearl 8120, also on Orange)

I've got Google Maps, but with no internal GPS, it's usually *way* off with locations. Still gets you in the general area, and fine for searching for a nearby street though.

good luck!

I finally gave up and installed an app called Nav4all, which is conveniently free. Don't know how good it is yet because my GPS puck is somewhere in the devastation at home, but I'll try it out soon and do a bit of a review. Good free GPS software isn't that easy to come by, so if it's good I'll definitely make some noise about it.

I think my crackberry needs a usb gps doohicky for it to work. Be interested to find out how yours works though.
