I've been doing this for a couple of hours now and already my brain hurts. 50,000 words is an absolute shitload. I've introduced all my characters and got them moving, and I've only used about 1,500! Now what am I going to do with the buggers?

I'm beginning to think proper novels may be somewhat out of the league of a person who generally writes whimsical short stories and children's poems. :(

Anyway, once more unto the breach, dear friends...

I was away most of the weekend, and then managed to buy Mario Kart so spent all last night playing that with my brother. Got up today planning to write at least 4000 words. Started off not too bad - got about 600 done in half an hour. Decided just to have a quick game of Mario Kart.

Damn.

There's no such thing as a quick game of Mario Kart. The original version on the SNES absorbed large chunks of my waking life while I was at university. It's a pleasant addiction, but an addiction nevertheless.

I have discovered this. My brother has had practice at it, so yesterday while I was at work he played it for hours and managed to open up the extra track and the mirror tracks. Damn again - twice as much to conquer.
