It's lovely here once again. I can scarcely believe it. I should probably be out making the most of it.
I think I'm very close to having finished installing everything I want on here now. UT went on painlessly and the server is now setup to come on at 5pm and go off again at midnight. Setiathome will be running for the rest of the time (niced, natch), I've made an ebuild for fuse to keep that in sync with the rest of my system, I'll be making some more for other things later. It still doesn't run properly on this machine. I think it's my sound drivers. They suck more than is traditional even with flaky sound drivers and I think fuse is spending too much cpu time worrying about the sound and not enough on the actual emulation. If I turn sound support off it's ok (it's still not quite right, but it's much better) and it's perfect if I increase the speed to 120%.
On another note, in a blatant example of how broken some distros are with respect to compiling stuff from source, *cough*Mandrake*cough*, I'm writing this using an editor that wouldn't even compile on my old system, despite having all the dependencies and paraphernalia. Tsk, eh? It's actually rather fabby and has pipped the erstwhile sclj from the top spot in linux lj clients. For my next trick I intend to find a decent p2p client so I can once again fill my hard drive with crap :)
