gp32! Yay!

My little bundle of fun has arrived. I'm currently recompiling my kernel to allow me to access it. Fingers crossed. The postie arrived at about half past 8 this morning, when I was barely conscious, but at least he rang the bell this time. I'm extremely hungover, but I'm not going to let that get in the way. I'm hoping at the very least to get the spectrum emulator and the snes emulator on here, play some mp3s and see where we go from there. Hurrah!

After a couple of false starts and a trip to my Dad's to use his windows machine to authenticate my gp32 with the gamepark website and get the free launcher thingy I think I'm doing ok with the gp32. I've got the speccy emulator on, and that runs smashing. I've also tried the snes emulator but that currently runs like a dog, an extremely slow dog, with a limp. It also doesn't run Mario Kart, which is a terrible shame. I expect both of these issues to be resolved in time though.

I'm having a little trouble with the linux gplink program. It doesn't like large files for some reason. I've had a look at the code, but I can't see any glaring errors. This is annoying as it makes it difficult to transfer mp3s and stuff. I've also had some problems with those, but I don't know whether that's to do with the mp3s themselves or the fact that they might not have transferred properly. On balance it might be easier to just invest in a smart media reader/writer.

On the whole I'm pretty pleased with it. It's not very useful to me at the moment, because of the above restrictions, but it's a cool little thing and hopefully I'll be able to surmount all the obstacles and have a groovy time with it.
