fact, you know full well that there were no
shepherds in the fields in December, and that
the date of Christmas was put at midwinter

celebrations of Yule and the birth of Mithras.

number of carols referring to holly, evergreens
and Winter's end, and will sing them with

I slightly resent the term "Pagan", as it tends to lead people to mental images that don't have any bearing on my beliefs whatsoever, but the rest is right. I just like a party, and take a certain amount of glee in arching one cynical eyebrow at the hypocrisy and ecclesiastical sleight of hand of it all :)

In short, I may sneer and mock, but I still like a mince pie, a glass of sherry and those little sausages Mum never makes enough of :)

Got an appointment at 11:40. I am confidently expecting him to say something to the effect of "It's a bug that's going 'round, just let it run its course". Seems a little pointless really, but one should go through the motions just in case, I guess.
