I'm not entirely sure why, but the theme of my dream of last night was earthquakes. I was living somewhere I didn't recognise (there was far too much greenery for it to be Wigan), in a flat I appear to have made up on the spot. Everyone in the town knew an earthquake was coming, but no one could do anything about it. When it came, the block my flat was in started to collapse. The end fell off it. When we got back in to check it out, my flat was as it always had been (at least since I made it up). I'm sure there was more to it than that. I think my brother was there too, though god knows why.

Odd.

Once more I'm going to have to bolster my ailing finances with an injection of cash from the lovely people who keep upping my credit limit. This cannot continue though. I need to a) lower my debt payments and b) make more money (if at all possible). Suggestions on how to accomplish a) or b) would be gratefully received. :(

I've just rung the nice folks at the Student Loans Company and asked to defer my loan payments. I figure it's stupid to be paying £116 a month on a loan when you don't have to, so that'll help. Amusingly, the guy who took the call was clearly knackered and, every time he made a typing mistake, would mutter "Titties!" in a tone he must've assumed was under his breath :)

Next on the list is the application for a Mint card. I figure shuffling all my credit card balances onto one of those will cut the monthly bill by a good 20-40 quid. This is of course assuming that I don't *use* the other cards anymore. Accordingly I'll be cutting them into tiny pieces once the new one comes through.

After that I'm going to see the mortgage advisor guys who sorted out my mortgage and see if there are any better deals around. A cursory check of a few websites would seem to indicate that I might be paying over the odds by as much as 200 quid! Be nice if I could get that back...

Once all the above is taken into account I should once more be in a position where the money I get paid doesn't just make my overdraft a little smaller, but actually contributes significantly to putting me in the black.

On top of all this I plan to seriously investigate a couple of investment opportunities I've seen, and look into the possibility of doing some property up.

I really need to keep better tabs on my money...
