My access point appears to have been delivered while I was in the shower this morning. Apparently the old lady across the way has it. This is very cool. Just need to get the wavelan card and a NIC from here, and we're in business :)

The Emate is a really nice bit of kit. The keyboard is superb and the machine is surprisingly responsive considering it's running at 25Mhz. I think it'll do the job fine :)
Heh, the premiss for buying it was actually IRCing from bed (yes, I am both that lazy and that addicted), but it's sufficiently good that you could easily sit in a wireless-enabled coffee shop and dash out a short story or several in complete comfort. And I think I probably will :)
I need to find more info on the serial cable. It looks like the bare PC cable will be enough for mine, the port is an 8 pin DIN socket, which seems to be what comes on the end of the normal lead.

Sadly I've realised that I need a serial cable to actually get the ethernet drivers *on* the newton inthe first place. Poo.
Still, I can network up me laptop instead, while I wait.

Annoyingly I only need the serial cable until I get ethernet set up. Grr. And the MP2100 needs a special dongle+cable too.
